ENT Resident Education Fund

The ENT Resident Education Fund is established to support a variety of resident scholarly activities including travel and lodging for conferences.

UIC Resident Research Fund

The UIC Resident Research Fund supports a full range of programs for residents of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. The fund is used to support clinical course work and laboratory training. It also directly supports the resident research program where emphasis is on critical thinking, and helping resident physicians develop a strong foundation of knowledge, insight and understanding – all essential qualities of a good physician.

Now Hear This! Fund

The purpose of the Now Hear This! Fund is to advance the quality of life and treatment for people experiencing hearing loss. The Fund will accomplish this through improved patient resources, clinical care, education and research.

One Voice Fund

The One Voice Fund has been established to restore communication in laryngeal cancer patients. Laryngeal cancer affects 30,000 people each year in the U.S., the majority of whom come from lower income brackets. Treatment ranges from radiation to surgery, in some cases requiring removal of the voice box, which may leave patients unable to speak.

Soboroff Lectureship

The Burton J. Soboroff Lectureship was established in 1999 from an endowment that enables the department to host eminent otolaryngologists on Resident Graduation each year. This lectureship continues to be funded through gifts from former residents, colleagues, and admirers.

Tardy Lectureship

The Tardy Lectureship was established in 2004 and is held in conjunction with Alumni Day. The lecturers are asked to explore the "human side" of the practice of otolaryngology and the treatment of patients, rather than simply focusing on technological advances.
